What is ICW?

Intercultural Week in Ilmenau 2024

What is Initiative Solidarity World Ilmenau (ISWI e.V)?

ISWI e.V. is a non-profit student association established in 1992, inspired by Norway’s International Student Festival in Trondheim (ISfiT). ISWI e.V. aims to provide a voice against social injustice, racism, and intolerance. As well as to promote intercultural tolerance and mutual understanding.

This objective is largely achieved through the biannual student festival, International Student Week in Ilmenau (ISWI), the biggest student festival/conference in Germany. In addition, ISWI e.V. is involved in numerous such projects in and around Ilmenau such as the Refugee Network, and Intercultural Week in Ilmenau 2024.

What’s Intercultural Week in Ilmenau 2024 (ICW 2024)

ICW 2024 (Intercultural Week in Ilmenau) is a project of ‘ISWI e.V., a non-profit student association established in 1992, known for organizing International Student Week in Ilmenau (ISWI).

ICW is a downscaled version of ISWI conference with focus to only regional audience. The student conference aims to provide participants the possibility to exchange information and critical thoughts about the problems of students in and around Ilmenau, Thuringia. Three main objectives of ICW are: limited student involvement, weak cooperation between the local people and university campus, and a lack of understanding between cultures.

These issues will be tackled through a series of content events i.e. group work, etc., and culture events i.e. intercultural brunch, etc.

The content events are divided into two phases of group work, lectures, workshops, and discussions. The first phase focuses on local topics with TU Ilmenau students. The second phase expands to include students from other Thuringian universities. Experts will also lead lectures and workshops.

The second phase of the conference, open to students from all over Thueringen, will take place between 31st May to 2nd June.
